SÉBASTIEN BACHAND
Borned and raised in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, Sébastien Bachand is an outstanding upright bass player with extensive backgrounds in both classical and jazz music. After completing his studies in jazz music at New York City’s The New School (2019), Seb returned to Quebec to pursue further studies in classical performance at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec (2023).
Both on double bass and electric bass, Seb is a regular freelancer, sideman, session player and arranger who stands out thanks to his exceptional ears and reading skills, as well as his professionnalism, composed demeanor and versatility. Highly sought after both as a soloist and sideman, he excels at elevating the ensembles he performs with.
Sébastien is currently focusing on creating music that is close to his heart, most notably his duo project Roots with his brother Zacharie, as well as a jazz duo album with trombonist Édouard Touchette.
Seb also enjoys poetry and offers several turnkey writing workshops.
